Director of Hacker Experience

Serves as the lead of the events and infrastructure hackers interact with during the event. The director leads their team in the creation, planning, and execution of mini-events during the hackathon, swag selection and distribution and the judging and mentorship process. They also work on creating and delivering the opening and closing ceremonies, and give out the prizes they and their team selected to the hackathon winners. The Director of Hacker Experience works closely with the rest of board to determine the feasibility and effectiveness of their teams' ideas. They need to be great at balancing creativity with reality, be able to create a cohesive team that works together, and pay attention to the large and small details that make the event possible.

Director of Marketing

Serves as the main communicator of all advertising outreach within the Vanderbilt community and beyond. Throughout the year, they manage a team of members working on our social media presence, advertising within the Vanderbilt bubble, and expanding the community that attends our hackathon. They compose many of the messages regarding all of the events available on campus sponsored by VandyHacks – and rely on growing and maintaining their personal network to maintain a great external image of the organization. The director of marketing needs to be a fantastic communicator and great delegator, able to run effective outreach on a myriad of different fronts.
